Frequently Asked Questions
Sourcing & Size
Q: Are all of your products from Ohio?
A: Not all — but as many as possible! We make it a top priority to source from right here in Ohio. When that’s not possible (especially for produce in the winter), we carefully select organic or natural products from within the U.S. Our meats and most staples are 100% Ohio-sourced. Except our rabbit, which is sourced out of state/.
Q: How big is the market?
A: We’re a brand-new, independently owned local market — not quite as big as the national chains, but every inch is packed with high-quality local products. With community support, we hope to grow into a larger space in the future!
What’s in Store
Q: What meats will you carry?
A: We’ve partnered with Ohio farmers to bring you a full lineup of pasture-raised meats — including beef, bison, pork, chicken, turkey, lamb, and duck. All are locally raised, hormone-free, and processed at state-inspected facilities. Rabbit will also be available, though it’s currently sourced from outside Ohio until we can find a local farm partner.
Q: Will you have a meat counter?
A: Not yet! Our meats come frozen, pre-cut, and packaged directly from Ohio farms. We do hope to expand someday to include an on-site butcher or meat cutter — but baby steps for now!
Q: Will you have vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, or keto options?
A: We’re working hard to include some of these options right from the start and plan to grow these selections as the store grows. Our goal is to make sure there’s something here for everyone — no matter how you eat.
Shopping Experience
Q: Will the vendors be onsite at all times like a farmers market?
A: Not usually. The products are stocked and displayed like a traditional store, and checkout is handled at a central cashier by the David & Mary’s team. We’ve also created informational cards throughout the market so you can learn about each vendor and their farming practices.
Q: Will the pricing be the same as big box stores?
A: Full transparency — no. Our products come from small, local farmers and producers who can’t compete on the same large-scale economics as national chains. That said, we work hard to be as competitive as possible while maintaining fair prices for clean, local, and responsibly raised food.
Q: How are you different?
A: We offer what big box stores can’t — a true connection to your local food source. You’ll know where your food comes from, how it was raised, and how far it traveled to get here. Most of our vendors can’t be found in big box stores — only in markets like ours.
